A major portion of the cost of constructing the Internet tower at Horizon Lanka
came as a LearnAid donation.
Horizon Lanka, in its formative stages, also
received a brand new laptop, a number of used computers and computer books
from LearnAid.
Horizon's Digital Butterflies project received its biggest boost when
LearnAid helped 24 children to buy their computers.
Selected
children in the village received a monthly allowance from LearnAid.
This was made possible through donations given by members of LearnAid and
students attending its classes held in Kuwait.
The first building of Horizon Lanka was partly financed by LearnAid
with funds generated at a charity event.
LearnAid has helped Horizon Lanka to develop its ICT resources and
teaching facilities.
LearnAid's
first contact with Horizon Lanka came after a write up appeared in the Internet.
Gamini and Jayantha later visited the village at their own expense.
We
help the deserving in learning English language and computing skills.
LearnAid
helps, or has helped in the past, many projects. Horizon Lanka is one of our
earliest beneficiaries.
