KETAWALA
ICT & ENGLISH CENTRE
The
funds for the Ketawala ICT & English Centre building
were
given by Mr. Mussad Y. Al Hamad of Raith Engineering & Mfg. Co. and Mr.
Tariq Al-Jassim of Cargo Transport Systems Co. of Kuwait. Mr. Victor Ramanan,
Manager-Logistics of Raith-CTS arranged the donation.
Our main project so far is the Ketawala ICT Centre. We also conduct a teaching
programme in Kuwait and give 'MiniSchols' to rural children.
While ICTA provided the computers and connectivity to the Centre, the Weerasinghe
Foundation looked after staffing and other resources. The land for the facility
was donated by the Chief Incumbent of the Gonagaladeniya temple.
We
help the deserving in learning English language and computing skills.
This

LearnAid
is a multi-nationality, not-for-profit organisation, with members coming from
many professional, religious, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
The
building was declared open by Gamini Premadasa in the presence of members of
the clergy, government and administration officials, teachers, schoolchildren
and the villagers. Ruvini, a student of Ketawala School, compered the event
while Chalani, another student, spoke about the project.
